About The Position

Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is seeking a knowledgeable and motivating Strength and Conditioning Instructor to lead fitness programming for older adults. This role supports healthy aging by helping participants improve strength, mobility, balance, and overall functional fitness. These opportunities are for on-site, in-person instruction only. This year-round, part-time position is ideal for an instructor who is passionate about wellness, community engagement, and creating a safe, supportive environment for senior participants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience teaching fitness, strength training, or group exercise classes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and motivating class environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with older adults preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strength and conditioning classes tailored to senior adults, focusing on safe, functional movement.
  • Develop class plans that incorporate resistance training, balance work, flexibility, and low-impact conditioning.
  • Provide clear instruction, modifications, and encouragement to participants of varying fitness levels.
  • Ensure participant safety by monitoring form and offering appropriate adjustments.
  • Manage class setup and cleanup.
  • Maintain attendance records and complete required administrative documentation.
