About The Position

Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for all intercollegiate athletic teams. This role is essential to enhancing athletic performance, reducing the risk of non-contact injuries, and fostering student-athlete development both physically and personally. The coach will collaborate closely with athletic staff to design evidence-based training programs and create a positive, motivating environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and overall student-athlete success.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of strength training techniques, program design, and athletic performance development.
  • Experience working with multiple athletic teams and diverse student-athlete populations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field required.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes
  • Knowledge of speed, agility, and conditioning principles
  • Must be proficient with all software and technology appropriate for the position.
  • Must have demonstrated technical skills to perform the job.
  • Proficiency in basic data tracking and performance monitoring tools.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive training environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification strongly preferred or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and supervise year-round strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate athletic teams using progressive, evidence-based methodologies.
  • Collaborate with head coaches to develop and manage preseason, in-season, and offseason training programs aligned with sport-specific goals.
  • Partner with athletic trainers to support injury prevention initiatives and implement return-to-play protocols.
  • Conduct sport-specific needs assessments to inform program design and athlete development strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate student-athlete performance, including implementing systems to track readiness, progress, and outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records, including athlete attendance and performance data.
  • Ensure the strength and conditioning facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and functional condition at all times.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with coaches, athletic trainers, and college staff.
  • Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices to continuously improve programming and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support the execution of home athletic events, including staffing support, equipment readiness, and ensuring compliance with institutional and conference standards.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department by supporting administrative functions, facilitating communication among staff, and contributing to departmental initiatives and special events, including but not limited to summer camps.
  • Coordinate, manage, and communicate training and facility schedules in collaboration with coaches and staff to optimize facility use and avoid conflicts.
  • Oversee the inventory tracking, maintenance, storage, and procurement of athletic and training equipment.
  • Supervise student employees, ensuring task completion, adherence to policies, and fostering a productive and professional work environment.
  • Development and implementation of recreational fitness opportunities, wellness initiatives, and campus-wide programming designed to promote health, wellness, and student, faculty and staff activities for the College community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
