About The Position

Western Technical College is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as an Instructor and Program Chair for its new Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. This role involves curriculum development, accreditation, clinical partnership establishment, and ultimately, in-person instruction. The ideal candidate will be committed to student success, fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, and promoting social justice. The program is set to launch in Fall 2028, with the teaching contract running Fall/Spring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Possess appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more ultrasound specialties.
  • Two years (4000 hrs.) occupational experience.
  • One year (2000 hrs.) occupational experience within the last 5 years.
  • Eligible for/or meets WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain program accreditation for the new Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Implement state-aligned curriculum for the program.
  • Develop clinical partnerships for student training.
  • Instruct students in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Oversee the structure and daily operation of the program.
  • Manage the organization, administration, periodic review, and program evaluation.
  • Monitor the ongoing development and effectiveness of program curricula.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained.
  • Prepare and provide quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Foster student growth and prepare them for workplace success or further education.
  • Promote social justice within the division and the institution.
  • Maintain and uphold College values.
  • Prepare coherent lesson plans aligned with competency-based learning.
  • Deliver course content via multiple modes of delivery.
  • Scaffold and differentiate instruction to engage all students.
  • Assist students in learning content knowledge to support College SuccessAbilities.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, assessments, and technologies.
  • Use formative assessments to gauge student learning and provide feedback.
  • Incorporate performance-based assessment strategies and other summative assessments.
  • Collaborate with other programs, faculty, and teams to support learning.
  • Collaborate with students and staff to retain students and assist them in being successful.
  • Use student feedback and other data for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain labs, classrooms, and clinical spaces for safety, functionality, and sustainability.
  • Develop and continually revise curriculum reflecting diverse perspectives and industry standards.
  • Engage in reflective practice and participate in ongoing professional development.
