About The Position

FMC Ice Sports, established in 1992, is the largest operator of public ice-skating arenas in the United States, managing 25 arenas across Massachusetts. They are seeking Lead Instructors to assist or instruct groups in their 'learn to skate' and 'learn to play' programs. These roles involve interacting with participants of all ages, demonstrating skating techniques, and ensuring a positive customer experience while upholding rink policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be able to ice skate proficiently.
  • Figure skaters should have achieved and passed ISI Freestyle 4 or USFS Freeskate 4 and up.
  • Hockey players should have participated in multiple years of formal league play.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience assisting or teaching skating classes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively uses customer service skills to control customer interactions.
  • Educates the public to the habits and attitudes of safe ice activities.
  • Accurately evaluates placements of students for skating instructions.
  • Prepares/completes program documents like attendance, recommendations, etc.
  • Enforcement of all rules regarding rink policies and operating procedures.
  • Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.
  • Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor on time.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings.
  • Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.

Benefits

  • Pay based on experience and industry-related qualifications.
  • Training rate $20-30 per hour based on instructor level.
  • Base pay range upon completion of training $22-32 per hour for instructor-related work.
  • Pay range for non-instructor-related work is $17-18 per hour based on instructor level.
