About The Position

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leading in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a part-time instructor for TLL 1592/2872 Teaching & Learning in Secondary Social Studies II. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to advancing equity and justice through excellence in teaching and committed to practice and engagement with communities. This role involves teaching in a vibrant community within the School of Education, emphasizing educational equity and justice. The department is committed to disrupting and transforming long-standing patterns of inequity and injustice in education through collaborative work across departments and with external partners. The position is hired on a single-semester basis, dependent on school needs. Part-time instructors are expected to facilitate an environment of active learning, where students and instructors collaboratively develop knowledge. Professional responsibilities include teaching, preparing course materials, maintaining a professional educational environment, and holding one scheduled office hour per week per course. Curriculum responsibilities involve assisting with the design, development, writing, and revision of course curricula and syllabi, ensuring their intellectual integrity and adherence to standard syllabus format.

Responsibilities

  • Teach TLL 1592/2872 Teaching & Learning in Secondary Social Studies II.
  • Facilitate an environment where active learning is encouraged.
  • Collaboratively learn and develop knowledge of course materials with students.
  • Prepare appropriate course materials.
  • Maintain a professional educational environment.
  • Maintain one scheduled office hour per week per course.
  • Assist with designing, developing, writing, and revising course curricula and syllabi.
  • Ensure the intellectual integrity of curriculum and syllabi.
  • Ensure all courses taught follow standard syllabus format.
