About The Position

The Instructor, Radiologic Technology Program is responsible for providing classroom, laboratory, clinical, and/or online instruction aligned with course objectives and accreditation standards. This role involves correlating theoretical knowledge with practical clinical experience, developing learning experiences, and utilizing modern teaching strategies and technology. The instructor will also serve as an academic advisor, participate in college-wide and division activities, and function as a collaborative member of the program team. A key aspect of the role is to promote a culture of belonging and support the college's commitment to diversity, fair employment, and equal opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiology Technology or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of work experience as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Current Nebraska license as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Maintain health requirements for clinical sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom/laboratory/clinical/online instruction consistent with course objectives, standards, and guidelines for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
  • Correlate classroom instruction with clinical experience through appropriate assignments and clinical conferences/evaluations.
  • Assign learning experiences in a sequential manner to integrate theory with practice.
  • Communicate with affiliated agencies regarding student scheduling, objectives, and required skills.
  • Orient students to clinical facilities and supervise them as required.
  • Monitor safe laboratory/clinical practice for students.
  • Select a variety of learning experiences to meet student educational needs and role in the healthcare team.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and modern technology.
  • Use the Interdisciplinary Center collaboratively to enhance student learning.
  • Evaluate students on a continual basis, keeping them apprised of their progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit grades as required.
  • Establish positive interpersonal relations with students and act as a role model.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and quizzes promptly.
  • Document performance and keep students apprised of their progress through various methods.
  • Participate in the Program Assessment Plan by helping to establish benchmarks and evaluate student performance.
  • Increase and improve teaching skills and subject knowledge through personal and professional development.
  • Use student instructor/course evaluation results to improve student learning.
  • Develop and/or revise course syllabi and outlines as needed.
  • Recommend textbooks and learning resources.
  • Plan for needed handouts, syllabi, and other educational materials.
  • Advise individuals and/or groups of students about the Program.
  • Keep the Program Chair and other Program Faculty informed about advisees.
  • Maintain knowledge of and apply College and Program handbooks and guidelines.
  • Document, report, and resolve student disciplinary problems.
  • Assist in registering and orienting new and continuing students.
  • Take an active role in college-wide and Division teams.
  • Serve on interview committees for employee candidates.
  • Represent the College professionally at conferences and meetings.
  • Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, positive attitude, confidentiality, professional appearance, and conduct.
  • Abide by the philosophy, rules, and guidelines of the Program.
  • Assist the Program Chair and other faculty as assigned.
  • Prepare for, attend, and contribute to monthly Program faculty meetings.
  • Take responsibility for meeting annual College requirements for diversity and safety training.
  • Participate in Program activities for curriculum development, budget preparation, new faculty orientation, class schedules, long-range planning, and other reports.
  • Develop and implement an individual, personal, and professional development plan at the time of hire (for new instructors).
  • Keep own records of in-service and continuing education units/hours.
  • Participate in the development of a professional development plan.
  • Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty, and employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.
  • Foster a community where individual perspectives enrich the educational experience.
