The South Island Police Academy (SIPA) is seeking expressions of interest for instructor positions to support its new pilot regional basic municipal recruit training program. This is an opportunity for Constables, Sergeants, Staff Sergeants, and Inspectors to shape the future of policing while enhancing their leadership and instructional expertise. These roles are designed as supplemental assignments, meaning subject matter experts will be scheduled alongside their regular duties. The inaugural class is scheduled to begin on September 14, 2026, with preparatory instructor training in the two weeks prior. Areas of instruction include Communication and De-escalation, Community Policing, Drill/Marching, Driver Training, Ethical Accountability, Firearms, Investigation and Patrol Skills, Legal Studies and Police Procedures, Mental Health and Crisis Intervention, Personal Development and Resilience, Physical Fitness Training, POPAT Facilitation, PRIME and Report Writing, Tactics, Traffic Studies, and Use of Force.
