About The Position

This role serves as the subject-matter expert (SME) for CAE’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Civilian Qualified Flying Instructor (CQFI) team, supporting the design of the Pilatus PC-21 and Grob 120TP training programs. You will work closely with CAE Qualified Flying Instructors (CQFIs) and participate in the Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Training Development Team (TDT). In collaboration with the Courseware Instructional System Designer (ISD), you will review and advise on module outlines, storyboards, and courseware to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with the RCAF Training Plan. You will also contribute to Flight Training Operations design, Ground-Based Training Systems (GBTS) design, and training device design. This is a non-flying role, focused heavily on new courseware development for the FAcT program. You will be deeply involved in storyboard reviews, outline reviews, and final approvals across multiple development stages. You will collaborate closely with the CQFI team throughout all phases.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Instructor Pilot within the RCAF or a comparable military training environment.
  • Expertise with synthetic training devices and multimedia-supported training.
  • Experience in curriculum design and/or training program management.
  • Familiarity with high-performance, single-engine turboprop trainers (e.g., Pilatus PC-21, Grob 120TP).
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Level I security clearance.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with IPT/TDT teams, ISDs, and customer stakeholders.
  • 5–8 years of job-related experience within military flight operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior involvement in GBTS design, training device design, and/or acceptance testing.
  • Experience contributing to policy and procedure development for flight operations and dispatch.
  • Interest in long-term career development within CAE, with the potential to transition into a Moose Jaw-based CQFI role after the project concludes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Instructor Pilot SME in support of training program design, including writing/reviewing training plans, publications, IT/software integration requirements, and physical space design.
  • Design and develop courseware through the full review cycle (classroom, synthetic device, live flying sequences).
  • Provide SME input for acceptance testing of courseware and synthetic training devices.
  • Develop policy and procedure documents for the integrated training centre; collaborate with Air Operations (Dispatch) on operational policies and procedures.
  • Analyze and report on training needs and risks; support Validation & Verification (V&V) as an RCAF instructional expert.
  • Undertake aircraft familiarization training when/if available.
