About The Position

The Instructor teaches private lessons, beginner through advanced, to students elementary school age through adult. The J's mission is to build a strong, vibrant and inclusive community that enhances wellness, meaning and joy based on Jewish values, heritage and culture. Requirements

1-2 years prior teaching experience, preferably teaching elementary-high school students.
Ability to prepare curriculum for subject matter.
Flexibility, creativity and ability to meet student needs in terms of goals, levels, and areas of interest.
Able to use basic computer technology such as email and time clock.
Knowledge of Jewish culture, values and traditions or willingness to learn.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Able to build positive relationships with a diverse group of students.
Able to demonstrate piano and voice techniques.
Able to move some supplies as needed, up to about 25lbs.

Responsibilities

Teach private lessons, beginner through advanced, to students elementary school age through adult.
Teach in a manner that promotes artistic growth from participants.
Stay current on teaching styles and music trends to implement in the lessons.
Work with supervisor to communicate cancelations & scheduling.
Record and submit attendance records weekly.
Maintain a clean and organized area to work with others using the space.
Attend mandatory meetings/trainings.
Communicate openly and clearly with families.
Coordinate and implement final performances & showcases with the Director, Arts Education.
Serve as Musical Director for the Stages program on 3-5 Sundays per semester.
