About The Position

The Instructor teaches private lessons, beginner through advanced, to students elementary school age through adult. The J's mission is to build a strong, vibrant and inclusive community that enhances wellness, meaning and joy based on Jewish values, heritage and culture. Requirements

  • 1-2 years prior teaching experience, preferably teaching elementary-high school students.
  • Ability to prepare curriculum for subject matter.
  • Flexibility, creativity and ability to meet student needs in terms of goals, levels, and areas of interest.
  • Able to use basic computer technology such as email and time clock.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, values and traditions or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to build positive relationships with a diverse group of students.
  • Able to demonstrate piano and voice techniques.
  • Able to move some supplies as needed, up to about 25lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private lessons, beginner through advanced, to students elementary school age through adult.
  • Teach in a manner that promotes artistic growth from participants.
  • Stay current on teaching styles and music trends to implement in the lessons.
  • Work with supervisor to communicate cancelations & scheduling.
  • Record and submit attendance records weekly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized area to work with others using the space.
  • Attend mandatory meetings/trainings.
  • Communicate openly and clearly with families.
  • Coordinate and implement final performances & showcases with the Director, Arts Education.
  • Serve as Musical Director for the Stages program on 3-5 Sundays per semester.
