About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology is hiring a full-time Instructor beginning January 2027. The instructor will teach a range of undergraduate courses, including Electrical Circuits, Electronics, Digital Electronics, Electromagnetics, Power Electronics, Industrial Electric Machinery, Power Transmission and Distribution, Control and Automation, Robotics and Automation, Mechatronic Systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Additional responsibilities include academic advising, mentoring senior design projects, and participating in service activities at the department, college, and university levels. Applicants must hold an M.S. degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution by the hire date.

Requirements

• M.S. degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution by the hire date.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and continuous curriculum improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to advise and supervise undergraduate senior design projects.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• A collaborative and enthusiastic approach to teaching, mentoring, and service.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution by the time of hire.
• One year of teaching experience in electrical- and mechatronics-related courses.
• Experience with ABET and/or ATMAE accreditation processes and student outcomes assessment.
• One year of relevant industrial experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in electrical, electronics, and mechatronics-related subjects.
• Provide academic advising.
• Mentor senior design projects.
• Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
