Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of college level teaching experience in art or graphic design.
  • Two (2) years' experience working in the graphic design field.
  • Experience teaching graphic design foundations courses: Typography, Graphic Design I & II, Computer Graphics, Web Design, Digital Page Design, and Illustration.
  • Experience teaching Visual Art foundation courses: Two-Dimensional Design, Drawing I&II, Color Theory, Painting.
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite Software, CSS, HTML, and Creating Animation.
  • Experience with online instruction and delivery methods using platforms such as Blackboard Ultra or another learning management system.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
  • Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
  • Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
  • Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline.
  • Courses may be offered in lecture, hybrid, and/or online formats, and teaching schedules may include both day and evening classes.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
