About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for the position of Instructor of Chemistry. All Chemistry Instructors are expected to teach undergraduate-level chemistry courses and labs. You would be responsible for preparing lessons and assessments based on a list of course learning objectives and using the textbook already adopted. In this position, you would also teach and manage dual enrollment chemistry courses, which are hybrid courses with all content being delivered online OR in person via a Southeastern Instructor in collaboration with trained high school teachers as facilitators. Additionally, you would be expected to participate in service activities for the Department, University, and Community.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Chemistry or in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry by the hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching introductory chemistry lecture and laboratory courses to non-science majors.
  • Experience working with high school students and teachers.
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and service.
  • Strong content knowledge in general and introductory chemistry and ability to create lessons, assessments and answer keys.
  • Capacity to mentor good laboratory skills using best practices with a safety mindset.
  • Willingness to serve in a community that values all students.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty of varied backgrounds.

Responsibilities
