About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Montclair State University is seeking an energetic individual committed to excellence in chemistry education to join us as a full-time, temporary instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. Primary responsibilities in this position will be teaching undergraduate courses such as Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Principles of Chemistry, Fundamentals of Chemistry, and laboratories for General Chemistry and / or other courses. This collection of courses serves a diverse body of students from programs within the College of Science and Mathematics as well as students in programs such as Nutrition, Food Science, and Exercise Science. The successful candidate will be dedicated to high quality undergraduate education and have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level. This position requires a strong commitment to the success of first-generation students and students with diverse educational backgrounds. The successful candidate will employ a variety of teaching techniques aimed at student success while engaging students in the classroom, laboratory, and office hours. The successful candidate will also work and collaborate with other department faculty with the shared goals of student learning, student mentoring, and maintaining a strong instructional team. The position is a one-year ten-month, non-tenure-track appointment.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.
  • A record of university-level teaching experience.
