About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking a 1-year temporary full-time instructor for its Nursing program for the 2026/2027 academic year. The program is a regional leader in educating future Registered Nurses and is looking for a faculty member with strong clinical knowledge and experience who can balance academic rigor with practical application. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching learners from diverse backgrounds and will contribute to a learning community that is evidence-based, student-centered, and culturally sensitive. The PCC Nursing program is a member of the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) and is located at the Sylvania Campus.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least three years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon at the time of hire and be able to acquire a Washington RN license within 6 weeks of hire.
  • OR Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least five years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon at the time of hire and be able to acquire a Washington RN license within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the term.
  • Reside in Oregon or Washington.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching 1st and 2nd year nursing students in theory courses, skills lab, Simulation labs, and clinicals.
  • Demonstrate transparent and respectful communication.
  • Demonstrate openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Instructional preparation.
  • Classroom management.
  • Grading.
  • Student support responsibilities associated with teaching multiple classes each term.
