About The Position

Nursing faculty are responsible for teaching courses as assigned, student advising, college service, professional development and promotion of collegial atmosphere. Faculty are expected to support the institution’s mission and vision and abide by the Faculty Handbook and college-wide policies. Faculty report directly to program managers and department chairs within their respective departments and divisions. This position will monitor students in the clinical areas, teach theory in classroom, and demonstrate clinical skills in the simulation laboratory. Additional responsibilities include assessing courses, serving on college committees, participating in extracurricular activities, community service, and professional development. Faculty may be required to teach evenings and weekends as well as on-line, dual enrollment, and service learning courses.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population, faculty and healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of clinical compliance requirements, accreditation standards, and nursing education best practices.
  • Active, Unencumbered RN license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in academic advising, tutoring or student support service
  • Experience in teaching and learning methodology
  • Proficiency in using academic management software and online learning platforms

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning experiences in accordance with students’ needs and abilities
  • Use learning resources to help students learn
  • Assess student learning in accordance with college policy
  • Provide each student with a course syllabus and schedule
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week
  • Meet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe
  • Advise students and assist with registration, orientation, and recruitment as needed
  • Follow the approved master course syllabi
  • Maintain accurate grade and attendance records
  • Submit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlines
  • Notify program manager and department chair of absence with course substitution plan in a timely manner.
  • Attend all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings
  • Attend convocations and participate in graduation exercise (attired in appropriate academic regalia)
  • Adhere to professional standards of conduct
  • Participate in the faculty evaluation process
  • Outcome Assessment
  • Contribute to the college and your discipline by collaborating with others and offering your service to the college.
