About The Position

Portland Community College’s Medical Professions (MP) Program is seeking a full-time faculty member to join their engaged and student-centered team. The MP Program, together with the Healthcare Pathways Certificate, offers foundational coursework that prepares students for entry-level healthcare employment, professional certification in PCC’s Healthcare and Emergency Professions programs, and continued education at institutions throughout the region. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach on campus, in-person course offerings in Medical Professions and demonstrate flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of our students and PCC programs. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will engage in on-campus, in-person program-related activities across PCC’s Cascade, Southeast, Rock Creek, and Sylvania campuses. These may include participation in student and department meetings, program outreach and marketing events, and other college and community initiatives that support the mission of PCC and the Medical Professions program.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a medical, allied health, or applied behavioral science field
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
  • At least 1-year of experience developing, implementing, or evaluating curriculum, clinical training activities, or competency-based instruction aligned with current healthcare standards and best practices
  • At least three (3) years of direct patient care experience within the past five (5) years (i.e., February, 2021 - present)
  • Prior experience teaching or training, particularly adult learners (e.g., professor, instructor, attending, preceptor)
  • Demonstrated skill at culturally responsive education

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a medical, allied health, or applied behavioral science field
  • Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring in a healthcare or academic environment
  • Knowledge of career opportunities and requirements in the health field
