Requirements

The applicant must meet all SACSCOC faculty credentials for this position.
The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
The applicant must be able to work as part of a team and value collaboration.
Possess good teaching and organizational skills.
Communicate effectively both in verbal and written expression.
Possess an educational philosophy that is compatible with the mission of the community college.
Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the online application process.

Nice To Haves

Three to five years’ experience teaching college-level mathematics, preferably in a community college context.
Teaching experience in traditional, hybrid, and online contexts.
Experience with curriculum review and assessment of outcomes.
Experience with classroom technologies (e.g., Colleague, Moodle, Self-Service, Canvas, Starfish).

Responsibilities

Teaching a broad range of mathematics courses in accordance with established course syllabi, common course descriptions, and college policies.
Delivering courses using learner-centered, active learning strategies across multiple modalities (Traditional, Hybrid, and Online) during day and evening hours at both the Rocky Mount and Tarboro campuses for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
Accommodating individual student differences while maintaining academic integrity; utilizing academic and campus resources to support a wide variety of learners.
Preparing instructional materials, exams, and assignments; providing prompt and accurate grading and feedback; and ensuring classroom and lab environments are properly organized and maintained.
Advising an assigned caseload of students, assisting with orientation and registration, posting and maintaining office hours, and remaining available for student appointments to mentor and support educational and career goals.
Maintaining and completing personal, course, and student records, reports, and forms (e.g., enrollment, attendance, grades, book orders, leave requests, timesheets) accurately and within established deadlines.
Participating in departmental curriculum development, new course design, textbook selection, learning outcome assessments, and staying current with discipline developments and pedagogy.
Engaging in professional activities, including campus committee work, faculty peer reviews, and employee meetings.
Working with the community in meeting the educational needs of our service area; participating in recruitment, community outreach, and educational partner engagement.
Fulfilling campus presence and schedule requirements, attending campus, divisions, and department meetings, and participating in other college events (e.g., graduation; appreciation lunches).
Assisting part-time instructors when requested.
Performing other duties and special projects as assigned by the department chair, division dean, chief instructional officer, or president.
