About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Mathematics Instructor provides engaging and effective instruction in mathematics and developmental mathematics courses to support student success, retention, and completion. The instructor designs and delivers curriculum that promotes mastery of mathematical concepts, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. This role performs related administrative and recordkeeping duties, advises and supports students, and contributes to departmental and institutional goals through professional development and college service.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, or Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics
  • At least one year of teaching experience (face-to-face and/or online)

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in mathematics and/or developmental mathematics using a variety of instructional methods and delivery formats.
  • Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to align with departmental standards and learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate textbooks, integrate technology, and maintain a current and relevant curriculum.
  • Advise, mentor, and assist students with academic progress, registration, and study skills.
  • Provide timely feedback, evaluate student performance, and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Administer, grade, and record examinations, projects, and “credit by examination” assessments.
  • Complete and submit required reports and documentation such as 10% reports, attendance, grades, and end-of-semester submissions.
  • Maintain organized course files, documentation, and student records in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Respond promptly to student and departmental communications via email, phone, and learning platforms.
  • Remain current with research, trends, and technological advances in mathematics education.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, institutional committees, and professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional quality, promote innovation, and enhance student outcomes.
  • Assist part-time instructors and substitute for absent faculty as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
