About The Position

Provide quality Pickleball instruction for the benefit of the participants of various age groups, abilities and skill levels. The days of work and hours will vary to meet program needs. Requires evening and weekend shifts. This is a part-time position working less than 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age (Instructor I) or 18 years of age (Instructor II).
  • Previous Pickleball experience, extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
  • High School graduate or GED required (Instructor II).
  • 1 year experience coaching/teaching Pickleball required (Instructor II).
  • Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire.
  • Proficient knowledge of Pickleball.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy.
  • Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills.
  • Frequent light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks.
  • Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
  • Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.

Nice To Haves

  • Some course work in recreation, education, therapeutic recreation or related field preferred (Instructor I).
  • Course work in recreation, education, therapeutic recreation or related field preferred (Instructor II).
  • Previous experience as an assistant instructor preferred (Instructor I).

Responsibilities

  • Properly instruct registered participants.
  • Develop, oversee and implement lesson plans.
  • Participate in required training.
  • Inspect program environment and equipment to ensure safety.
  • Handle emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class evaluations and class descriptions for brochures.
  • Provide make-up sessions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
