About The Position

This position involves providing quality Pickleball instruction to participants of various age groups, abilities, and skill levels. The work schedule will vary to meet program needs, including evening and weekend shifts. This is a part-time position, working less than 20 hours per week. The role requires developing and implementing lesson plans, ensuring safety, handling emergencies, and completing administrative tasks such as skill assessments, attendance, and evaluations. Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age (Instructor I).
  • Previous Pickleball experience, extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required (Instructor I).
  • Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire (Instructor I & II).
  • High School graduate or GED required (Instructor II).
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age (Instructor II).
  • 1 year experience coaching/teaching Pickleball required (Instructor II).
  • Extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required (Instructor II).
  • Proficient knowledge of Pickleball.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy.
  • Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Some course work in recreation, education, therapeutic recreation or related field preferred (Instructor I).
  • Previous experience as an assistant instructor preferred (Instructor I).
  • Course work in recreation, education, therapeutic recreation or related field preferred (Instructor II).

Responsibilities

  • Properly instruct registered participants.
  • Develop, oversee and implement lesson plans, participate in required training.
  • Inspect program environment and equipment to ensure safety, handle emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class evaluations and class descriptions for brochures.
  • Provide make-up sessions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
