Requirements

  • Must have completed a registered apprenticeship in the Electricity Trade
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent (14,000 hours) occupational experience in the electricity trade as an apprentice or journey level electrician in construction and/or industrial maintenance, or a combination of both.
  • Up to two (2) years of occupational experience in commercial or industrial electrical system design can be counted toward occupational experience.
  • At least ONE of the following must be met: Three (3) years of occupational work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years; OR , Two (2) years of teaching Electricity course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years
  • One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time of four (4) semesters part-time
  • Apprenticeship certificate from Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards or equivalent.
  • Must have a current license as a Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician from the State of Wisconsin.

  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with social networking applications

Responsibilities

  • Develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses.
  • May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, evening, and/or weekend.
  • Participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.
  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This full-time faculty annual salary is determined based on the individual’s education and years of relevant experience and is assigned to the appropriate salary class and step in accordance with the applicable salary schedule.
