About The Position

Ensures public safety and regulatory compliance by inspecting commercial vehicles, transportation infrastructure, and operational practices. The role focuses on ensuring public safety, infrastructure integrity, and compliance with DOT standards.

Requirements

  • Nevada Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Inspector Certification
  • Nevada DOT Level I–III Inspector Credentials
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Inspection Endorsement
  • NBIS Bridge Inspection Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • ELD/Hours of Service Verification Training
  • Strong regulatory knowledge (DOT, FMCSR, OSHA).
  • Ability to identify safety defects and violations.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and digital reporting platforms.
  • Clear communication and conflict management.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA airfield safety awareness
  • Rail/transit inspection modules (if assigned).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections aligned with FMCSR, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
  • Verify Hours of Service, ELD data, permits, and hazardous materials placarding.
  • Support roadways, pavement, and NBIS bridge inspection activities.
  • Document findings using digital reporting systems.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and the public; apply de‑escalation techniques.
