About The Position

This is a Full-Time, Tenure-Track position at Fresno City College. The role involves instructing and coordinating activities within the Child Development Center.

Requirements

Master's in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education; or Bachelor's in any of the above and master's in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies; or A valid California Community College Credential; or The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
California Child Development Program’s Director’s Permit (or be able to obtain a permit within 6 months of hire).

Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
Related work and professional experience.
Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including disabled students.
Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Extent of experience teaching and administering in licensed early care and education programs.
Knowledge of Child Development, Early Childhood Curriculum, inclusive practice, teaching methods and techniques.
Knowledge of online teaching, or online teaching certification.
Knowledge of applicable State Department of Human Services licensing regulations, child care food programs, health and safety regulations, state, local and federal categorical grant programs, preparation of applications for child care funding, and early child care and education program management.
Knowledge and experience and preparation with Program for Infant Toddler Care ( PITC ), National Association for the Education of Young Children ( NAEYC ) Accreditation, & Community Care Licensing.
Ability to navigate various agreements with collaborating agencies.
Knowledge of Multilingual Learner strategies for young children and adults.
Knowledge of Class Assessment Scoring System ( CLASS ) Observation tool.
Knowledge and experience administering California Department of Social Services California State Pre School Program ( CSPP ) and General Child Care and Development ( CCTR ) contracts.
Experience collaborating with community partners.
