About The Position

The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor - Computer Science at our Brenham Campus and RELLIS Campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below: Job Summary To perform the day-to-day operations of the instructional program. To teach courses as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in computer science.
  • All coursework must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Teaching Experience in Computer Science or highly related field (either at the college or secondary level) required.
  • Clearly explaining concepts, active listening, and providing constructive, immediate feedback.
  • Creating a positive, safe, and collaborative learning environment that encourages student participation and self-management.
  • Maintaining subject-matter expertise, engaging in continuous professional development, and demonstrating cultural competence.

Nice To Haves

  • College teaching experience.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Digital game design / development experience.
  • In addition to a Master’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s degree or 18 graduate-level hours in either Information Technology or Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations as needed
  • Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence
  • Maintains access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication
  • Prepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution
  • Maintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources
  • Advises students in academic matters
  • Evaluates students’ performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner
  • Assists in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives
  • Provides recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Head, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum
  • Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community
  • Submits timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments
  • Exhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities
  • Engages in collegial activities and service activities across the department, division, and college
  • Possesses a passion for teaching community college students
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and orally
  • Attends college orientation and required institutional meetings
  • Responsible for other related duties as assigned
