About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum. This position requires the creation and delivery of learning experiences that support students in achieving the learning outcomes outlined in the Master Course Syllabus. The instructor will employ teaching methods to design and maintain an engaging and effective learning environment, assess student progress, and provide feedback to promote growth and academic success. A key aspect of the role is cultivating a classroom environment that reflects the college’s mission, values, and goals. The instructor will also participate in program and discipline activities related to curriculum development and implementation, contribute to program reviews and strategic planning by offering recommendations on curriculum, staffing, facilities, and equipment, and engage in ongoing professional development to deepen expertise and enhance instructional strategies. Integration of relevant educational technology tools into teaching is expected, as is participation in department, division, campus, and college meetings and committees to support institutional goals. The role also includes maintaining weekly office hours as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and performing other related duties as outlined in the CBA.

Requirements

Master’s or doctorate in biology, 30 graduate biology credits, professional medical doctorate (e.g., MD, DDS, DO, DVM), or a master’s degree in a recognized biological or medical sub-field.
For Biotechnology Instructor: Minimum 3 years research experience in a laboratory and Bachelor’s degree in Biology (or biology-related field) required.
Familiarity with current equipment and ability to troubleshoot protocols used to manipulate proteins and DNA/RNA (for Biotechnology Instructor).
Knowledge of educational pedagogy.
Knowledge of Course Management System (i.e. Blackboard).
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of discipline-specific technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently and in a group.
Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and to be employed at the College (Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check).
