About The Position

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individuals to join its Faculty team. This full-time probationary position is for an Instructor of Anatomy & Physiology, located in Troy, New York, and is part of the Natural & Applied Sciences Department. The role involves teaching both classroom and laboratory components of Anatomy & Physiology and potentially other Health Sciences related courses. Teaching assignments may include weekends, evenings, and online. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and serves a diverse student population across its multiple campuses. HVCC is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is a catalyst for educational opportunity and economic development in the Capital Region.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Biology or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related scientific, healthcare, or educational field will be considered.
  • Two years of successful classroom and laboratory teaching experience at the college level in the content area.
  • Experience with integration of technology in the classroom/lab.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States unrestricted.
  • Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Research or clinical experience is desirable.
  • Experience with distance learning initiatives is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success of student mentoring and/or resource room experience is preferred.
  • Experience using the D2L Brightspace learning management system.

Responsibilities

  • Implements appropriate instructional duties, both classroom and laboratory.
  • Develops and revises courses and curricula.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Participation on departmental, division wide and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
  • At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
  • This role involves teaching courses that may be assigned at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.
