About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for American Sign Language (ASL) for Fiscal Year 2027. This role involves teaching college-level courses in ASL and Deafness, developing course materials, evaluating student progress, and contributing to student advisement, recruitment, and program development. Courses are taught across multiple campuses in Clark County, with availability for day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. CSN is Nevada's largest college, serving over 50,000 students annually across more than 50 locations, including three main campuses. It is a comprehensive, multi-campus community college committed to providing accessible education and fostering inclusive learning environments.

Requirements

  • BA from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably in Deafness related field) from a regionally accredited College or University.
  • Documented and demonstrated American Sign Language competencies at an advanced level.
  • Experience teaching in ASL.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Experience working with interactive language laboratories.
  • ASLTA certification (American Sign Language Teachers Association).
  • RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching college-level courses in the field of American Sign Language and Deafness.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials.
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.
  • Provide an excellent teaching experience.
  • Student advisement, recruitment activities and program/curriculum development.
  • Courses taught at multiple campuses in Clark County.
  • Be available to teach day, evening and/or weekend courses.

Benefits

  • Salary: $925.00 per credit for lecture per semester.
