About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for the Advanced Manufacturing Program within the Department of Workforce and Economic Development (DWED) and the Applied Technology Department. This role begins as soon as possible and requires demonstrated industry and teaching experience. The instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching lab and lecture classes, establishing student learning outcomes, organizing instruction, selecting curriculum materials, conferring with students, evaluating student mastery, and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Primary teaching areas include Advanced Manufacturing Technology topics, with core courses in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Electricity, AC/DC Motors, and Motor Control and DC/AC Drives. Preferred teaching areas include Automation/Robotics, Programmable Logic Controls and microprocessors/controllers, and Electronics. Additional duties involve program assessment, curriculum development, student mentoring, assessing student learning, maintaining records, upholding professional standards, participating in professional development, community outreach, supervising staff, and collaborating with other instructors. The instructor will also work with the Director of Advanced Manufacturing on credit and non-credit courses, assist in aligning manufacturing programs, and facilitate industry partnerships to meet educational and training needs. Participation in department and college committees, student recruitment, and maintaining industry/community partnerships are expected. The candidate should also commit to ongoing professional development through conferences and professional associations.

Requirements

Hold an associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Technology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Degrees in related fields are also acceptable) OR a minimum of 5 years of Industrial Experience.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of 2 years of Industrial Experience.
A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education.
Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or a related field.
Experience teaching IET programs, preferably in a CTE setting.
Experience teaching ABE, including ESL, math, and reading.
Ten or more years of work experience in the industry.
Two or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education.
Industrial Certifications.
Experience teaching online/hybrid classes.
Experience teaching online/hybrid classes using Canvas.
Experience creating a college curriculum.
Experience developing either industrial or engineering technology lab(s) in a college setting.
Experience working in diverse multicultural situations.

Responsibilities

Develop and instruct lab and lecture classes.
Develop student learning outcomes and course descriptions.

Collaborate with the Director of Advanced Manufacturing for both credit courses and non-credit courses.
Assist with developing, monitoring alignment, and collaborating between credit and noncredit manufacturing programs.
Facilitate partnerships with industry to address manufacturing industry education and training needs.
Participate in department and college-wide committees.
Participate in student recruitment activities.
Assist the team to maintain and develop strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee.
Commit to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance at industry conferences and membership in professional associations.
