Instructor AC & Refrigeration CE - Adjunct Pool
About The Position
Houston Community College (HCC) is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as an Instructor for the AC & Refrigeration Continuing Education program. This role is for an adjunct pool, meaning instructors will be hired on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will be a tech-savvy, process improvement-focused Student Champion with a talent for developing partnerships. This position requires a commitment to advancing the institution's tradition of excellence in academics, student life, and community service, with the student experience always at the forefront of planning and execution. The instructor will act as a teacher, mentor, and academic advisor, contributing knowledge and expertise to HCC, its students, and the community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 36 months work experience in the field required.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair AC and refrigeration systems and components.
- Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
- Self-disciplined.
Nice To Haves
- AAS or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Industry certifications preferred.
- Bilingual language skills beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Teach day or evening classes at various sites around the city.
