About The Position

The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated on this description. The Plumbing and Apprenticeship Instructor supports the Department of Engineering and Apprenticeships and is available to start on July 27th, 2026. This position requires Wisconsin residence. Hours This is a full-time instructor position on a flexible year-round calendar. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of programmatic discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning principles, and evaluation
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, active listening, and non-verbal cues
  • Strong customer service skills which includes working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (employers, clients, and vendors)
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work and/or the improvement of processes and/or systems
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with video-conferencing and technologies associated with adult-centric teaching and learning, as well as within specific programmatic disciplines, which may include web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and/or AV/multimedia applications and equipment.
  • Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience as a fully qualified worker in the occupational area, of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years.
  • One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.
  • Journeymen or Master Plumbing license required.
  • Attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.
  • Wisconsin residence required.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization through employment.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required upon hire.
  • WCTC does not provide employment-based visa sponsorship.

  • Previous teaching experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain course curriculum.
  • Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
  • Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
  • Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
  • Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
  • Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate as a productive member of a team.
  • Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.
