About The Position

CNM faculty are vital to the College’s vision of changing lives, building community. Faculty are responsible for providing high quality instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners so that each student may meet course outcomes and achieve their educational goals. Full-time faculty are also expected to perform college service in addition to the instructional duties listed below. This service beyond instruction is integral to the collaborative and innovative work we engage in with our internal and external community members to continuously improve the student learning experience, CNM’s organizational excellence, and the larger community’s success.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years recent industry experience (architectural, engineering, or construction)
  • Experience with commercial buildings or construction document preparation using AutoCAD and/or Revit software

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Teaching experience working with a non-traditional student body
  • Knowledge of software used for creating construction documentation and building analysis
  • Industry Certifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies, specifically Revit , along with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and visualization/rendering software (e.g., Rhino, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses aligned with approved curricula, college standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Design syllabi (using the official CNM syllabus creation tool) with course/program learning outcomes.
  • Use evidence-based, inclusive practices, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Deliver instruction across modalities (in-person, online, hybrid) with flexible scheduling.
  • Provide timely feedback (1-week grading turnaround).
  • Utilize the Learning Management System for delivery, assessment, and grade input and management.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure safety compliance.
  • Support learners at key transitions (onboarding, gateway courses, completion).
  • Communicate responsively (48-hour email response time during weekdays).
  • Participate in early alert, program pathways, work-based learning, and retention initiatives.
  • Foster belonging and academic confidence.
  • Monitor performance, utilize technology to help identify at-risk learners, implement interventions, and refer learners to appropriate college resources.
  • Maintain office/engagement hours.
  • Collaborate with advising staff on learner goal achievement.
  • Assess learner outcomes; use results to improve instruction and curriculum.
  • Participate in program review, assessment cycles, and institutional effectiveness activities.
  • Maintain documentation aligned with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) expectations.
  • Contribute to data-informed decision-making and accreditation reporting.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development and revision.
  • Align courses with program maps, guided pathways, transfer requirements, and workforce competencies.
  • Ensure curricular coherence across modalities.
  • Update content to maintain disciplinary currency.
  • Engage with advisory committees and community/industry partners.
  • Participates in college committees and engages with cross-functional teams supporting institutional priorities.
  • Attend required meetings, convocations, and commencement.
  • Support accreditation and strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor part-time and new faculty.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and collegiality.
  • Comply with all policies and mandatory training.
  • Maintain qualifications in assigned discipline and update credentials as required, consistent with HLC and other accreditation standards.
  • Engages in professional development on learner success strategies, equity-minded pedagogy, instructional technology, UDL, and assessment.
  • Attend Professional Development Days.
