About The Position

Duke Law School is seeking an Instructional Technology Consulting Manager (Team Lead) to join our Academic Technologies team. In this role, you will lead the technology professionals responsible for supporting the teaching, learning, and event experiences that define one of the nation's leading law schools. You'll combine leadership, audiovisual expertise, instructional technology knowledge, and innovation to ensure that classrooms, events, and digital content perform at the highest level. From managing mission-critical classroom technology and video production initiatives to developing data-driven solutions with Microsoft 365 tools, you'll have a direct impact on the experience of faculty, staff, students, and visitors across Duke Law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Video Arts, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Five years of professional experience supporting audiovisual, instructional technology, or related technology services.
  • Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or managing technical teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills across hardware, software, and integrated technology environments.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to support occasional evening or special event activities as business needs require.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information while maintaining appropriate security standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in higher education or another academic environment.
  • Experience with audiovisual infrastructure, classroom technologies, video production, and live event support.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Group Policy, SCCM, Jamf Pro, or similar endpoint management tools.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other IT service management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Linux-based operating systems and virtualized server environments.
  • Industry certifications such as Biamp Tesira, Extron, Dante, Shure, or related AV technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of classroom technologists responsible for instructional technology, audiovisual support, and customer service across the Law School.
  • Oversee the planning, lifecycle management, support, and modernization of classroom and event technology systems, serving as a key liaison with Duke OIT and external AV integration partners.
  • Design and implement technology solutions using Microsoft 365 tools, including Power Automate and Power BI, to improve operational efficiency, reporting, and technology planning.
  • Direct video production and multimedia services, including lecture capture, live streaming, webcasts, conference support, event recording, and post-production activities.
  • Partner with faculty, staff, students, Communications, and Academic Technologies leadership to deliver innovative technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and engagement.
  • Develop video production standards.
  • Maintain media archives.
  • Manage equipment and repair activities.
  • Assist with technology budgeting and planning.
  • Train staff.
  • Provide regular operational updates to Academic Technologies leadership.
