About The Position

Amentum is seeking an experienced and dynamic Instructional System Designer Level 1 in Albuquerque, NM. The Instructional System Designer Level 1 (ISD Level 1) will design, develop and deliver accurate instructional materials while maintaining and enhancing DOE training programs. ISD Level 1 will work with NTC training team, supervisors, and business process owners to incorporate training needs into future programs to achieve critical business objectives, designing and developing innovative, comprehensive curriculums and certification programs, utilizing advanced design/development techniques and tools of adult learning theory. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the Department’s National Training Center training operations and have previously provided support services at the training center.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by specialized training certifications; OR a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Instructional Design, Human and Organizational Performance, Education, or a related training-specific field.
  • Experience in planning and executing several long-term projects simultaneously.
  • Progressive, professional experience working as or assisting with Instructional Systems Design or Curriculum Development.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute training product maintenance and assist in managing project deliverables to achieve organizational goals.
  • Fundamental understanding of adult learning theory and systematic instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE / Systems Approach to Training).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to partner effectively with team members, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOE HSPD-12 credential or currently possess a DOE HSPD-12 credential and must maintain the HSPD-12 credential for the duration of the contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior DOE NTC experience in Safeguard and Security Training is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to design, update, and maintain engaging classroom, blended, and scenario-based learning materials using established instructional strategies.
  • Support project planning activities, contribute to the development of project timelines, and assist with tracking milestones to ensure on-time deliverable submission.
  • Assist in conducting needs assessments, job/task analyses, and performance gap evaluations; support recommendations for instructional sequencing.
  • Assist with assessing performance outcomes to evaluate current versus desired skill levels, contributing to recommended training interventions.
  • Apply established DOE and NTC instructional design standards, quality control procedures, and basic safety and security policies across all learning deliverables.
  • Perform broader instructional design tasks under the mentorship and guidance of Level II and Level III ISDs.
