About The Position

This role involves assisting in the instructional process by working with students individually or in small groups, supplementing regular instruction, and implementing teacher-developed lesson plans under the direct supervision of an instructional staff member. The position also supports the preparation and use of instructional materials and technology, reinforces positive learning and behavior, and aids in the development of student study skills. Additional duties include supporting parental involvement, maintaining confidentiality of student information, performing clerical and recordkeeping tasks, adhering to safety procedures, and providing support in various learning facilities. The role may also involve assisting with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), acting as a translator, monitoring student behavior, and performing Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and passing score on ParaPro Exam.
Completion of 60 credit hours or an Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
Organizational and management skills.
Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree.
One (1) year of related experience.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Assist in the instructional process by working with students individually or in small groups, supplementing regular instruction and implementing teacher-developed lesson plans under the direct supervision of an instructional staff member.
Assist in the preparation, organization, and use of instructional aids, materials, and technology as directed.
Work with the teacher to reinforce positive learning and behavior patterns among students.
Assist students in the development of study skills necessary for learning and in the achievement of instructional objectives.
Support parental involvement activities.
Demonstrate understanding and respect of individual student’s culture and interests.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with laws and policies concerning confidentiality of student information.
Perform related clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
Adhere to safety procedures.
Provide support in a computer laboratory, library/media center, and/or other learning facilities when appropriate.
Assist in implementation of a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Act as a translator if able and as appropriate.
Monitor student behavior/activity in the cafeteria and other campus locations with the support of administrators and/or teachers.
Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the federally approved School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) Guide.
