About The Position

This posting is for prospective openings for Fall 2026. LVA utilizes Instructional Support Teachers (ISTs) in all grade levels, K-5, 6-8, 9-12. ISTs work under the direction of classroom teachers to provide in-classroom support and small group instruction for students. This position is full-time and requires a candidate who is flexible and willing to provide coverage for teacher absences. ISTs may work with students in regular education, special education, and ELL programs.

Requirements

Interest in developing a career in education is required.
Experience working with elementary school students is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing needs and provide coverage as needed.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in providing instruction and support to students during class activities.
Lead small group instruction sessions to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to students who need it.
Provide coverage for classroom teachers during absences, ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Foster a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and learning.
Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and instructional goals, ensuring seamless support for students.
Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to classroom teachers to help inform instructional strategies.
Help maintain classroom order and discipline, following school policies and procedures.
