Instructional Support Assistant
About The Position
The Instructional Support Assistant at Varennes Elementary School, for the 2026-2027 school year, will assist the teacher in providing a positive classroom environment where students can benefit from the instructional program. This role involves preparing for and assisting with classroom activities, working with students to reinforce material, providing individual and small group instruction, guiding independent study, assisting students with technology, maintaining confidentiality, utilizing planning time, participating in staff development, and monitoring student progress.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma
- Meets the Highly Qualified status based on the ESEA requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the school instructional team with students, parents, and instructional staff
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Prepares for and assists with classroom activities under the supervision of a highly qualified teacher.
- Works with students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
- Provides individual and small group instruction.
- Guides independent study and enrichment work assigned by the teacher.
- Assists students in utilizing technology.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning student records, data, and personal information.
- Utilizes planning time in the classroom under the direction of the teacher.
- Participates in staff development programs provided by the school district as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the teacher, plans, prepares, and develops individual and small group lessons.
- Monitors and reports student progress.
- Performs other duties as directed.
