About The Position

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool for the 26-27 Academic Year. This pool is for current CSUF graduate students to provide grading support for introductory Asian American Studies or Ethnic Studies classes. Appointments from this pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, with applicants potentially being offered employment on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled graduate student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, Outlook, and Zoom.
  • Willingness to learn course specific software and platforms, such as Canvas, to better assist students.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work and to be available for meetings with supervising faculty member.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and undergraduate students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal study and/or work experience in an ethnic studies-related field or discipline, such as African American studies, Chicana/o studies, women and gender studies, American studies, sociology, history, psychology, English, political science, liberal studies, philosophy, anthropology, social work, public health, and counseling.
  • Prior ISA or GA work experience.
  • Students with Federal Work Study award.
