The State College Area School District is searching for an Instructional Paraprofessional for the Culinary Arts program in our Career and Technical Center (CTC) at State High. This position is designed to assist multiple teachers in facilitating classroom activities, providing supplemental instructional support, and assisting with clerical work/documentation related to CTC compliance. This program allows students to explore and learn about food preparation, hospitality, nutrition and wellness, sanitation, food safety, and other food service related knowledge. The work is usually varied and provides many unique and exciting opportunities. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and as a team to complete projects and handle a wide variety of activities. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required along with the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. It will also be regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 45 pounds. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to work culinary functions which occur outside school hours and allow our students to demonstrate their skills. These functions occur on an occasional basis and are compensated.
