The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Chico State invites applications for lecturer positions teaching criminal justice courses during the 2027–2028 academic year. The positions are based at Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe, California, as part of Chico State’s Transfer in Place program. This degree-completion model allows students to complete upper-division coursework toward a Chico State bachelor’s degree at a partner community college, with Chico State faculty teaching Chico State courses at the partner location. Lecturers may be assigned to teach one or more in-person criminal justice course sections at Lake Tahoe Community College for which the dean and department chair determine they are qualified. Assignments depend on the lecturer’s qualifications and the department’s instructional needs. Positions are contingent on funding and enrollment. Applicants must submit a current cover letter addressing how they have addressed or plan to address teaching diverse student groups, a CV, a list of program courses they believe they are qualified and interested in teaching, unofficial transcripts for their highest earned degree, and contact information for three professional references. Applications must be submitted online. The position requires work to be performed within California and includes background-check and disclosure requirements. The person hired will be a mandated reporter under California law and CSU policy. Chico State is committed to student success, eliminating equity gaps, and fostering an inclusive, accessible, and equitable learning and working environment. The university seeks candidates who have experience working with diverse populations and who support inclusion and diversity in higher education.
