About The Position

Under the direction of a licensed staff member, this role assists students with basic curriculum work, implements programming, reinforces learning skills, and enforces discipline procedures. The specialist also supports classroom teachers by preparing materials, monitoring students, and evaluating/recording student achievement. This role involves safely using tools (hand and power), measuring, cutting, building, and planning. Candidates must be comfortable with lifting, squatting, climbing, and walking. While an extensive construction background is not required, it is helpful. Possession of an OSHA 10 certification is mandatory.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
No experience required, however, construction background is helpful.
Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Intermediate English language skills.
Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
Advanced organizational skills.
Ability to work alone and with others.
Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities.
Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
OSHA 10-Hour Workplace Safety Training certification.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree.
Classroom/instructional work in an educational setting, licensed teaching, construction, infrastructure, or engineering experience.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
CPR and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
Assist with paperwork and documentation as needed.
Assist students with classroom activities.
Assist with curriculum delivery to both individuals and small groups to ensure mastering of subjects.
Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, taking inventory, scheduling repairs and maintenance, data entry, word processing, laminating, ordering supplies, placing phone calls, materials distribution, and light bookkeeping.
Assist with other classroom events, such as field trips or fire drills, as necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
