About The Position

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking a professional-level Instructional Designer III to join Academic Technology. This role oversees the development and implementation of solutions for academic programs, departments, or similar units, providing leadership for learning or training programs. The position is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of classroom and technology-based training programs, assessing training needs, and serving as a liaison between subject matter experts and technical experts. The Instructional Designer III will lead large projects by managing cross-functional teams to develop new programs and courses.

Requirements

Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.
Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience, but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Research and learn new technologies quickly to develop new approaches and processes to support teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of instructional design projects by applying established learning theories, pedagogical best practices, and innovative educational technologies across multiple delivery modalities.
Serve as the primary liaison between faculty, stakeholders, and development teams by managing project communications, developing project documentation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality learning solutions.
Supervise project workflows, timelines, and quality standards while training, mentoring, and guiding staff and student employees in instructional design methodologies, learning standards, and emerging technologies.
Demonstrate strong initiative and self-direction by independently managing multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing competing demands, and consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Research, evaluate, and implement emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design, online learning, usability, and accessibility while representing the organization on strategic initiatives, committees, and high-impact projects.
