About The Position

The Instructional Designer I assists and supports the creation of robust and interactive online courses for credit and non-credit courses through technical work under general supervision. Works one-on-one with faculty members to identify course learning objectives, teaching methodologies, assessment tools, and other parameters necessary for the development of basic courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and some instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience; OR master’s degree.
  • Must clear the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work with the ACCESS Distance Learning Initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, implement, and train others in web/new media content preparation, presentation and production.
  • Ability to implement instructional technology tools for online content preparation, presentation and production.
  • Ability to work with clientele from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and translate their instructional technology needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in distance learning technology in higher education or K-12 environments with knowledge of learning management system Schoology.
  • Experience in teaching, training, multimedia authoring, curriculum development, website development, or IT experience.
