The Instructional Content Writer provides high-quality, standards-aligned formative products and assessments to teachers and students in ANet partners. ANet’s products and assessments provide data to teachers and leaders and support them in understanding the learning standards. Reporting to the Vice President of Instructional Products, the Instructional Content Writer will be responsible for the content development and design of ANet’s K-12 products. This role includes writing, reviewing, and revising high-quality content and instructional resources or materials across K–12 content areas. This position is a part time role, working up to 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Prior instructional teaching experience in K-12 classrooms
  • Expertise in content areas such as ELA, Math, Literacy; ANet welcomes writers with strong standards and instructional design backgrounds across subjects.
  • Solid understanding of state instructional standards, including Common Core State Standards
  • Working knowledge of assessment design principles and best practices
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly in meetings or presentations
  • Ability to organize workstreams and take initiative to get assignments completed
  • Work effectively under deadlines and fast paced work
  • Be able to incorporate input from teams or external sources
  • Ability to recognize needed data and understand how it impacts decisions in the work or role
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Create ANet content and supporting materials aligned with K-12 content standards
  • Support item selection and design for all ANet assessments and products
  • Write assessment items aligned to standards, including but not limited to traditional and technology-enhanced item types
  • Gather and resolve feedback on assessment item content from multiple stakeholders in order to revise
  • Provide specific feedback to assessment writers and editors, ensuring quality and alignment to design principles
  • Approve final assessment items for use
  • Research and analyze content standards and other assessment item examples from states and external organizations
  • Support development of instructional support materials and scoring guides for assessment items
  • Meet all interim and final deadlines for assessment item creation
