About The Position

The Instructional Coach's primary goal is to enhance student achievement throughout the district. This is achieved by collaborating with teachers and school leaders to refine instructional methods, implement evidence-based strategies, and effectively utilize data. The role involves building educator capacity, ensuring alignment with district objectives, and cultivating an environment of continuous improvement to deliver equitable, high-quality education for all students.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Certificate in the appropriate subject area
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years secondary teaching experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of foundational research on best practices
  • Positive leadership skills
  • Understanding/knowledge of different modes of data collection (formative and summative)
  • Understanding/knowledge of methods for classroom data collection and analysis
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration amongst adults
  • Ability to immediately identify components of instruction and factors that are beneficial to student learning while observing instruction
  • Consistent demonstration of effective instruction at the high school level
  • Demonstrated skills in proactive problem solving
  • Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must pass Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint clearance check.
  • Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain.
  • Proof of Mumps, Measles and Rubella, (MMR) vaccination.
  • Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications, official transcripts will be due upon job offer.
  • Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation, (word for word) by an acceptable translator.
  • Each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES).

Responsibilities

  • Observe all assigned teachers using a common observation tool to collect baseline data toward district instructional goals.
  • Create a tiered system for providing support to teachers based on all levels in planning, implementation and assessment.
  • Provide instructional coaching to teachers using a collaborative and guided coaching methods.
  • Maintain organized documentation of all coaching activities.
  • Meet with assigned administrator(s) to analyze data and student achievement.
  • Identify and maintain student achievement data collections for analysis.
  • Coordinate opportunities for teachers to participate in data analysis through PLC’s and/or department meetings.
  • Coordinate and plan meetings for the purpose of professional development based on observations and teacher input.
  • Coordinate and implement a peer coaching/collaboration system within and across departments.
  • Research and disseminate information (re: education and instructional practices) to department chairs and/or teachers.
  • Observe with assigned Principal or administrative evaluator.
  • Collaborate with department chairs on a regular basis to identify types of support and data that would benefit each department.
  • Align practices with: National Staff Development Standards; Arizona Academic Standards; District and Site goals; as well as site and departmental data.
  • Participate in learning opportunities relative to implementation of instructional coaching responsibilities.
  • Attend at least one national and state professional development offering (per year) relevant to the academic focus of CGUHS.
  • Collaborate on, design and implement a shared professional development plan with site principal.
