About The Position

The Instructional Coach will support teachers and school leaders in improving instruction in literacy and math. This position focuses on building instructional capacity, providing targeted coaching, and promoting the use of evidence-based instructional practices during the 2026–2027 school year. Requirements

  • Possess or qualify for the immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an elementary ed (K-8) endorsement
  • Has a minimum of three years K-5 teaching experience required.
  • Experience with a variety of assessment tools.
  • Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
  • Knowledge of project-based classroom organization.
  • Commitment to the education profession by evidence of participation in curriculum development, District and building committees, meetings, and projects.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement standards and EALRs
  • Training in using appropriate technology for digital media, including Adobe Products, Microsoft Office, blogs, etc.
  • Commitment to increasing one’s own knowledge and skills about technology and meaningful integration of technology into instruction
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when needed.
  • Ability to reflect on own professional practice and make adaptations to improve instruction
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • MLL endorsement preferred.
  • Experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based literacy and math instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data-driven instruction and professional learning communities (PLCs).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with school leadership teams to identify instructional priorities and areas for teacher support.
  • Models effective instructional strategies in classrooms, with a focus on literacy and/or math.
  • Provides one-on-one and small-group coaching to teachers to strengthen instructional practices.
  • Facilitates professional development sessions and workshops.
  • Analyzes student data to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Supports teachers in implementing differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Coaches and supports teachers in providing differentiated instruction for multilingual learners and special education students within the general education setting.
  • Uses school improvement goals to develop professional learning plans and monitor progress toward goals.
