About The Position

Amplify is seeking an Instructional Coach, Literacy with a background in teaching, coaching, and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development (PD) team as a fixed-term employee for Anne Arundel County School District for the 2026-2027 school year. Requirements

  • Passion for literacy and deep knowledge of the science of reading and writing.
  • Experience leading sustained instructional coaching engagements and professional development for educators in grades K–5 or 6–8.
  • 5+ years of K-5 or 6-8 Literacy teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students.
  • Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers.
  • Experience in guiding teams of educators through change management processes.
  • Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice.
  • Proven efficacy in time management while managing multiple engagements and competing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, particularly Google Workspace.
  • Able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) across the Anne Arundel County area to support educators.
  • Must be permitted to work in the US, have residency in the US, and possess a valid US driver’s license.
  • Must reside in or near Anne Arundel County Public Schools and/or be able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) to support educators across the district.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Amplify CKLA or experience teaching Amplify CKLA.
  • 10+ years of K–5 or 6–8 teaching and leadership experience resulting in demonstrable student outcomes.
  • Ability to support educators in a remote learning environment, if needed.
  • Master’s or Advanced Degree in Education.

Responsibilities

  • Support educators on-site up to four days per week, with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparing to meet educators’ needs.
  • Support the Amplify Professional Development team on department-wide initiatives during periods when Anne Arundel County schools are closed but Amplify remains open (e.g., teacher workdays, holidays, winter and summer breaks, school cancellations, etc.).
  • Design and/or deliver PD for other districts during the summer or other school closure periods.
  • Collaborate with district/school leadership and the Amplify Literacy Professional Development Strategist assigned to the district/school to determine the strategy, focus, and coaching approach for different times of the year.
  • Partner with district/school leadership to adjust course, as needed, with an eye toward improving student outcomes.
  • Lead classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers and leaders to strengthen implementation of Amplify's Literacy suite and improve student outcomes.
  • Conduct model lessons and co-teach alongside classroom teachers.
  • Support unit and lesson planning with grade-level teams and/or individual teachers.
  • Lead lesson study cycles for teachers.
  • Provide recommendations to school leadership designed to enhance outcomes and equity of learning for diverse student populations, including students with learning and thinking differences and English Learners.
  • Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for leaders and/or teachers, including supplementary office hour consultations.
  • Support data analysis and instructional planning with grade-level teams, individual teachers, and reading leaders.
  • Analyze student work and formative assessment data to support instructional decision-making and responsiveness to learner outcomes.
  • Cultivate model classrooms to elevate and replicate best practices in planning and instruction.
  • Proactively seek out feedback and adapt practice based upon the feedback and what is leading to improved student outcomes.
  • Create or customize professional development experiences, as needed.
  • Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions (in person and remote), as needed, for leaders and teachers.
