About The Position

Responsible for providing instructional support and care of assigned students, creating classroom environments conducive to effective learning, while maintaining commitment to NCS’s mission, vision, curriculum standards, and instructional excellence. At Neuse Charter School, we trust our staff will: Explain complex concepts in an understandable way, using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles. Engage with parents/guardians to keep them informed about student progress, successes, and areas of improvement. Remain current on educational research, teaching strategies, and subject knowledge through participation in ongoing learning and professional development. Assess student performance through various methods and provide meaningful feedback that helps students grow. Ensure equal access for all students to have opportunities, support, and resources, and address any disparities that may arise. Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students, preparing them for current and future challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Foster a collaborative spirit with fellow teachers by sharing strategies, resources, and insights to improve student outcomes. Demonstrate integrity, empathy, and fairness by treating all students and colleagues with respect and kindness.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to support and articulate the school’s mission, goals and objective is in a positive, inspirational manner.
  • Manages confidential information with discretion and care, particularly as it relates to students.
  • Relates well with all types of people, attentive and active listener; patience to hear others out and build rapport with dignity and tact; works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to work effectively in a deadline-driven, multi-priority environment; exhibits effective time management skills and appropriate resource management; communicates interferences and delays to supervisor.
  • Provides accurate results that are well thought-out and complete; exhibits high standard for excellence and attention to detail; relays information that is sufficiently detailed and promotes desired result.
  • Uses logical methods to solve problems while producing effective solutions; probes all appropriate resources for solutions; takes initiative to identify and improve programs, systems and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years experience with competency-based instruction preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Support students’ educational needs.
  • Assist with delivering instructional lessons to meet curriculum requirements.
  • Assist with guiding students to engage in critical thinking and cooperative learning.
  • Provide differentiated support including accommodations and modifications to ensure all students are able to meet and exceed standards in accordance with IDEA.
  • Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Provide routine administrative support such as preparation of instructional and classroom materials, maintaining classroom records, and classroom setup.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, bathrooms, outdoors, and multi-use spaces and assisting students with movement from classroom to other campus locations, in addition to morning and afternoon carpool duty and lunch duty.
  • Attend and actively engage in all required faculty meetings and in-service trainings and maintain professional competence through engaging in additional learning opportunities and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Oversee proper stewardship of school resources and management of student records in accordance with FERPA and IDEA.
  • Promptly respond to all communications within 48 hours.
