About The Position
Instructional Assistant Saint Leo the Great Catholic School Fairfax, Virginia Position Summary Saint Leo the Great Catholic School seeks a dedicated, faith-filled, and student-centered Instructional Assistant to support teachers in providing a high-quality Catholic education. The Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with classroom teachers to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth, and positive social development in a nurturing Catholic school environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families.
- Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
Nice To Haves
- associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred
- Practicing Catholic preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic concepts and skills.
- Support differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers.
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned times.
- Promote appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values.
- Assist students with organization, classroom routines, and transitions throughout the school day.
- Prepare classroom materials, copies, displays, and bulletin boards.
- Assist with record keeping, grading, and data collection as directed by the teacher.
- Support communication efforts with families and school staff when requested.
- Support and model the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities.
- Foster a respectful and caring environment rooted in Gospel values.
