About The Position

The job of Special Programs Education Assistant is done for the purpose of assisting, tutoring, and training special education and other identified students in a classroom or similar learning situation. This role involves providing personal care assistance and performing classroom clerical tasks to support the instructional process. The position is contingent on passing a physical, operates 7 hours a day for a 187-day school year, and begins on 08/19/2026. It is located in Wright, WY.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform multiple, non-technical tasks and occasionally upgrade skills.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry.

Responsibilities

  • Assists special education students and other identified students with activities such as reading, explaining words, arts and crafts, classroom activities, and individual assignments to ensure their participation.
  • Attends meetings, including inservice training, workshops, and IEP meetings, to receive and convey information.
  • Confers with teachers to assist in evaluating student progress and implementing IEP objectives.
  • Instructs students individually or in small groups in subjects like math, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, and verbal skills to help them progress on IEP goals.
  • Maintains instructional materials and student files/records for accessibility and accurate information.
  • Monitors students in various settings (library, field trips, classroom, lunchroom, bus) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Performs record keeping and clerical functions such as correcting papers, recording grades, copying, creating displays, collecting and distributing supplies.
  • Records observations and incidents related to specific students for documentation and communication.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff to provide information, direction, or referrals.
  • Assists other personnel as required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.
