About The Position

This is a 10-month position with an exemption status of Non-Exempt. The salary will be based on the AFSCME UA3, Grade 5-7 salary scale. The role involves assisting teachers in planning instructional activities, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, and providing instructional reinforcement to individuals or small groups. The position requires regular on-time attendance and may involve providing substitute coverage as needed. Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• 48 college credit hours OR passing scores on an approved Paraprofessional assessment required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work in an instructional support role with elementary, middle, or high school aged children.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in elementary schools.
• Must be at least 18 years old and out of high school for at least 2 years to work in middle and high schools.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in preparing for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
